FamCoins ("FamCoins," "we," "us," "our") is owned and operated by Rooted Creative Group LLC, based in Oakland, California. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through famcoins.app, wallet.famcoins.app, and support.famcoins.app (together, the "Service"), how we use it, and the rights you have over it.

1. Who We Collect Information From

Our subscribers ("Parents") are adults who create and manage a FamCoins family account. Parents enter limited information about their own children ("Kids") in order to operate the household reward system — we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 through open, unsupervised registration; a parent must create and control the account.

2. Information We Collect

• Account information: the parent's email address, a hashed password, a household PIN, and family/display name.
• Child profile information (entered by the parent): a first name or nickname chosen by the parent, an avatar/color, grade level, and an optional PIN. We do not require or request a child's full legal name, address, phone number, or any government ID.
• Usage data: chores completed, coins earned/redeemed, store purchases, portfolio uploads, and check-in activity — all generated by using the Service, tied to the family account, not sold or used for advertising.
• Payment information: subscription payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. We do not store full credit card numbers ourselves; Stripe's own privacy policy governs the payment data Stripe collects directly.
• Support communications: anything you send us via the contact form, support tickets, or email, including your name, email address, and message content.
• Technical data: IP address (stored in hashed form for our waitlist and abuse-prevention systems), browser type, and basic device information necessary to operate the Service.

3. How We Use Information

We use the information above solely to: operate and improve the Service; process subscription payments; send account, billing, and support-related emails; prevent fraud and abuse; and comply with legal obligations. We do not use child profile information for advertising, do not build advertising profiles of children, and do not knowingly permit third parties to do so through our Service.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined under the CCPA/CPRA. We disclose information only to:

• Service providers who process it on our behalf under contract (payment processing via Stripe; hosting and email delivery via our infrastructure providers), solely to operate the Service;
• Law enforcement or regulators when required by valid legal process; and
• A successor entity in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy continuing to apply to previously collected information.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain account and usage data for as long as your family account is active, plus a reasonable period afterward to comply with financial recordkeeping obligations and resolve disputes. You may request deletion of your family account and associated child profile data at any time by emailing hello@famcoins.app; we will delete or de-identify the data within 45 days, except where retention is required by law.

6. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

The Service is designed to be used by parents on behalf of their household, with children participating under direct parental supervision and control. Child profile information is entered exclusively by the parent, is visible only within that family's private account, and is never used for behavioral advertising or shared with data brokers. A parent may review, edit, or delete any child profile information at any time from the Family dashboard, or by contacting us directly. If we become aware that a child has provided us with personal information outside of a parent-controlled account, we will take steps to delete it.

7. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right, subject to certain exceptions, to: (a) know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose; (b) request deletion of your personal information; (c) request correction of inaccurate personal information; (d) request a portable copy of your personal information (for example, your child's portfolio logs, exportable in PDF or CSV); and (e) not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA, so there is no "opt-out of sale/sharing" link to provide. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@famcoins.app from the email address on your account; we will verify your identity before acting on the request.

8. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards — including password hashing, encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), and restricted internal access — to protect the information we hold. No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect your family's data.

9. Cookies & Similar Technologies

We use strictly necessary cookies and local storage to keep you signed in, remember your cookie preference, and support core features like the PWA install prompt and support-ticket sessions. We do not currently use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If that changes, we will update this Policy and our cookie banner accordingly, and any non-essential cookies will be off by default until you opt in. See "Cookie Preferences" in the footer to review or change your choice at any time.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last Updated" date, and where required by law, we will provide additional notice.

Refund Policy & Billing Terms

To keep billing transparent, FamCoins follows these trial and billing guidelines across all plans (Basic, Family, and Family+, monthly or annual):

1. Free Trial

New subscriptions include a free trial period (currently 30 days) with full access to your selected plan's features. No charge is made during the trial, and you can cancel anytime before it ends with one click from Family Settings Billing at no cost.

2. Billing After the Trial

If you don't cancel before the trial ends, your card is automatically charged for your selected plan and billing period (monthly or annual). Subsequent charges recur automatically at the start of each billing period until you cancel.

3. No Refunds After the Trial Ends

We do not issue refunds for charges that occur after the free trial period has ended, including partial-month or partial-year refunds for early cancellation, except where required by law. Canceling stops future billing; it does not refund the current period already paid for, and you retain access through the end of that period.

4. Changing Plans

You may upgrade or downgrade between Basic, Family, and Family+ at any time from Billing. Plan changes take effect immediately; we do not currently prorate the difference for switching mid-period.

5. Trial-Ending Reminder

To prevent surprise charges, we automatically send a reminder email to your account's registered address approximately 24 hours before your free trial ends, so you have time to cancel if you'd like to.

6. Billing Disputes

If you believe you were charged in error, contact us at hello@famcoins.app or through the support center before filing a chargeback — we resolve billing issues directly and quickly.

Terms of Service

Welcome to FamCoins, a service owned and operated by Rooted Creative Group LLC ("FamCoins," "we," "us") in Oakland, California. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of famcoins.app, wallet.famcoins.app, and support.famcoins.app (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

1. Eligibility & Accounts

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter a contract to create a FamCoins account. The Service is intended to be operated by a parent or legal guardian ("Parent") on behalf of their household; children use the Service only within a Parent-controlled family account and under that Parent's supervision. Accounts are invite- or waitlist-gated during early access at our discretion; we do not guarantee an invitation or a specific launch timeline.

2. Household Economy Boundaries

FamCoins is a private household ledger and rewards-tracking tool. Coins, hearts, and store rewards created within the Service carry no real-world cash value, are not redeemable for money, and exist solely within your household's private account. The Parent acts as the sole "bank" for their family and is solely responsible for fulfilling, purchasing, or delivering any reward, prize, or item their child redeems in the Store — FamCoins is not a party to and has no obligation regarding any reward a Parent has configured.

3. Account Responsibility & Security

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and household PIN, and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at hello@famcoins.app if you suspect unauthorized access. Custom chores, character moments, store items, and any other content you create or upload must comply with applicable law and must not be unlawful, harassing, or unsafe.

4. Subscriptions & Billing

Paid plans (Basic, Family, Family+) are billed on a recurring monthly or annual basis through our payment processor, Stripe. Free trials, billing, cancellation, and refund terms are governed by our Refund Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

5. NFC Cards & Physical Goods

Branded NFC cards and any other physical goods sold through the Service are fulfilled separately from your subscription. Shipping times, defects, and returns for physical goods are handled on a case-by-case basis — contact hello@famcoins.app. NFC tap-in is an optional convenience feature; the Service remains fully usable via PIN entry without it.

6. AI Assistant ("Monsieur Claude")

The in-app assistant provides general, automated suggestions (e.g., off-screen activity ideas, saving tips) and is not a substitute for professional educational, medical, psychological, or financial advice. Responses may occasionally be inaccurate or incomplete; Parents are responsible for reviewing anything the assistant suggests before acting on it, especially where it involves a child.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to: use the Service for any unlawful purpose; attempt to bypass, tamper with, or falsify NFC card validation, coin balances, or audit logs outside the Service's intended parent-controlled tools; scrape, resell, or redistribute Service data; reverse-engineer the Service; or interfere with its normal operation. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section.

8. Your Content

You retain ownership of content you or your family upload (e.g., portfolio pieces, custom chore descriptions). By uploading it, you grant FamCoins a limited license to host, store, and display that content back to your family and, where you've enabled a public portfolio share link, to anyone with that link, solely to operate the Service. You represent that you have the right to upload the content and that it doesn't violate anyone else's rights.

9. Service Availability & Disclaimers

We aim for high uptime but provide the Service "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure at all times.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, FamCoins and Rooted Creative Group LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, goodwill, or profits, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless FamCoins and Rooted Creative Group LLC from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the Service, your content, or your violation of these Terms.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service and cancel your subscription at any time from Billing. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, engage in fraud or abuse, or for non-payment. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends immediately; data deletion is handled per our Privacy Policy.

13. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Alameda County, California, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there, except where applicable law provides for a different forum (e.g., small claims court).

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll update the "Last Updated" date above, and for material changes, we'll make reasonable efforts to notify active subscribers by email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

15. Miscellaneous

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in effect. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and FamCoins regarding the Service.
